Abstract

Single-phase γ′-Fe4N particles have been prepared by gaseous nitriding reduced iron powder at the temperature of 670 °C for 4 h. The phase composition, micro-morphology and magnetic properties of the particles have been investigated by XRD, SEM and VSM. The results show that the nitriding temperature has important effects on the phase composition, and the saturation magnetization value of γ′-Fe4N particles was about 174 emu/g. The complex permeability and power losses have been studied within the frequency range of 50–1000 kHz, the real part of the complex permeability decreased slowly with the increase of frequency, and the imaginary part increased with the increase of frequency. Furthermore, the power losses increased with the increase of frequency. Finally, the power losses increased as the temperature increased (− 60–120 °C).
