Abstract

The preparation and screening of some potential antimalarials are reported. The new compounds which are inactive as antimalarials are several benzene-, benzyl-, and fluorene thioacetals, β-disulfones derived from these thioacetals, α-chlorobenzyl sulfones, amides, and thioesters derived from 4-dichloromethylbenzoyl chloride and 4-tri-chloromethylbenzoyl chloride. The known compounds bis(4-amino-pheny)sulfone and 4′-aminophenyl-4-aminobenzene thiolsulfonate also were prepared and showed some antimalarial activity.
