Abstract

Starting with the trinuclear clusters, M{sub 3}(CO){sub 12} (where M = Os or Ru), Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 11}(NCCH{sub 3}), Os{sub 3}(CO){sub 10}(NCCH{sub 3}){sub 2}, and ({mu}-H)Os{sub 3}({mu}-OR)(CO){sub 10} (where R = H or Ph), and polyfunctional organic compounds containing vinyl or allyl groups, a number of cluster monomeric complexes have been synthesized containing ligands with an uncoordinated C{double_bond}C bond, viz.: ({mu}-H)Os{sub 3}({mu}-4-Vpy)(CO){sub 10}, ({mu}-H)Os{sub 3}({mu}-O{sub 2}CCH{double_bond}CH{sub 2})(CO){sub 10}, ({mu}-H)Os{sub 3}({mu}-OCNHCH{sub 2}CH{double_bond}CH{sub 2})(CO){sub 10}, and ({mu}-H)M{sub 3}({mu}-SCH{sub 2}CH{double_bond}CH{sub 2})(CO){sub 10}. The ({mu}-H)Os{sub 3}({mu}-4-Vpy)(PPh{sub 3})(CO){sub 9} complex was investigated by X-ray diffraction analysis.
