Abstract

Abstract Complexes [VX2(salen)] (X = Cl, Br) are reduced by hydrazines to give either [VX(salen)(ROH)]ROH (R = Me, Et) or [{VX(salen)}2], depending on the solvent. Treatment of [VO(salen)] with I2 in acetonitrile gives I5− or I7− salts of the [{V(salen)}2(μ-O)]+ cation, which are reduced by diethylaluminium ethoxide in the presence of phenylhydrazine, to give [V(PhNHNH2)2(salen)]I.
