Abstract

Alumina powders coated with silver consisting of nanoparticles with sizes of 50 and 80 nm were produced by a radiation-chemical method. The coating percentage was from 2–3% to 16–40%. Antibacterial properties of the composite have been investigated on wine yeast, Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. The photocatalytic properties of the nanopowder were investigated, which showed the potential.
