Abstract
The effect of glutaraldehyde on the properties of polyvinyl alcohol/diethanolamine permselective film was investigated. A new permselective film was prepared by coating low‐density polyethylene containing diatomaceous earth. In the coating solution, diethanolamine, glutaraldehyde, and polyvinyl alcohol were used as an amine carrier, a crosslinking agent and a substrate respectively. The effects of the amount of glutaraldehyde on the tensile properties, moisture permeability, thermal stability and the morphologies of permselective film were characterized. The influence of relative humidity on the permeability of permselective film was investigated. The results show that with the increasing amount of glutaraldehyde, the permeability coefficient of CO2/O2, tensile strength, and thermal stability increase gradually. However, water vapor permeability coefficient and elongation at break of permselective film decrease with the content of glutaraldehyde on the rise. When the content of glutaraldehyde is 0.7%, the selectivity coefficient of CO2/O2 is up to 9.23, and the tensile properties and moisture resistance are also in the high level. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the crosslinked permselective film prepared in this study has good comprehensive properties, and the relative humidity has little influence on the permselective film.
