Abstract

Eu3+ or Ru(bpy)32+-doped TiO2-SiOR (R-organic groups) hybrid films on Si wafers or silica glass slides were prepared by the anhydrous sol-gel process, from 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, dihydroxydiphenylsilanel and Ti(OBun)4 for luminescent solar concentrator, since Eu3+ and Ru(bpy)32+ ions could down-shift light frequency. Ti-O-Si bonds exist in the TiO2-SiOR films. Optical transmittances were ~90% in ~372 – 2500 nm for the undoped/Eu3+-doped films; but for the Ru(bpy)32+-doped film, there’s an absorption peak at ~470 nm with wide shoulder. For Eu3+-doped films, different photoluminescent spectra were obtained by excited with different wavelengths; but for Ru(bpy)32+ doped films, the same luminescent peaks at ~588 nm occurred under different excitation wavelengths. The decomposition temperature of hybrid was Td ~407 °C.
