Abstract

Densification, phase formation, and structurization of ceramics in the SiC – AlN system prepared from powders using a mechanical activation are explored. Specific structural transformations of SiC – AlN composites containing 20 – 30 vol.% AlN and heat-treated at 2100°C for 4 h under nitrogen are established. Owing to these transformations involving the decrease in solid-solution grains via recrystallization, the strength of the ceramic material increases to 800 – 900 MPa.
