Abstract
Chemical modification of tantalum carbide powders by siliciding of them in an SiO-gas atmosphere at 1400°C and sintering of the chemically modified tantalum carbide powders by hot pressing at 1700°C and 25 MPa are investigated. The phase composition, microstructural features, and strength characteristics of the obtained high-density ceramics based on chemically modified tantalum carbide powders are studied.
