Abstract

Tm3+ and Dy3+ co-doped BamSr1−mMoO4 polycrystals were synthesized by a low temperature combustion method. The X-ray diffraction patterns showed that the phosphors were mainly composed of the SrMoO4 phase. From scanning electron microscopy detection, the Ba0.05Sr0.84MoO4:0.05Tm3+ 0.06Dy3+ phosphor showed ellipsoid particles with an average diameter of approximately 0.5µm. When excited by proper ultraviolet light, the co-doped Ba0.05Sr0.95MoO4 samples showed a blue emission band located at 454nm attributed to the 1D2→3F4 transition of the Tm3+ ions and an yellow band located at 573nm attributed to the 4F9/2→6H1/2 transition of Dy3+ ions. White-light emission was achieved with 5mol% Tm3+ and 6mol% Dy3+ co-doped in the Ba0.05Sr0.84MoO4 crystal with chromaticity coordinates of x=0.323 and y=0.354, and a color temperature of Tc=5910K upon excited of 354nm.
