Abstract

Tb3+ doped LaF3–SiO2 nano-composite materials are synthesized by the sol–gel method at room temperature. Through XRD, TG–DTA and emission spectra, this paper analyzes the materials' structure and the luminescence characteristics. The structure indicates that the optimal doping formula for preparing nano-materials is La5Si95. The LaF3 transforms into a stable mineral structure of hexagonal cerium fluoride when the temperature is 600°C, LaF3 structure decomposes and transforms into amorphous phase, probably amorphous SiO2 while it is above 800°C. When the optimum annealing temperature is 600°C, the monitoring wavelength is 544nm, the best excitation wavelength is 288nm, and the optimal doping molar concentration of Tb3+ is 0.25%.
