Abstract

Three different thiosemicarbazone (TSC) ligands, BTSC, ClTSC, and MeTSC, derived from benzophenone, p‐chlorobenzaldehyde, and m‐methoxybenzaldehyde, respectively, were complexed with K2PtCl4. The structures of the complexes were determined on the basis of elemental analyses, IR and 1H, 15N, and 13C NMR spectral studies, which support the formation of square‐planer dimeric complexes of the type [LPtCl2PtL], where L is MeTSC and ClTSC, which are N,S containing bidentate ligands. The complex prepared with the ligand BTSC is of the type [L2PtCl2] where L acts as a monodendate ligand as confirmed by CHN analyses. X‐ray powder analyses show that the complexes are crystalline.
