Abstract

Li1.1Mn2O4 and Li1.1Mn2O3.9F0.1 materials have been synthesized at 900 ‡C by using the melt-impregnation method. Li1.1Mn2O4 showed fairly large capacity fading at room temperature; however, Li1.1Mn2O3.9F0.1 exhibited excellent cycling performance for 85 cycles at room temperature. Doped fluorine ions increased the oxygen amount in Li1.1Mn2O3.9F0.1, which resulted in an increase of the average Mn oxidation state. We found that this indication was the main reason for the cycling performance improvement of Li1.1Mn2O3.9F0.1 compound.
