Abstract

Ordered yttria stabilized zirconia (YSZ) materials in the form of nanoarrays were successfully synthesized by the anodic alumina oxide (AAO) template assisted sol–gel method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersion X-ray (EDX) spectrum techniques were employed to characterize the morphology and crystalline structure of the prepared YSZ nanoarrays. The length and the diameter of the YSZ nanoarrays are 50μm and 400nm, respectively, which are in good agreement with the dimensions of the AAO template pores. The XRD measurements indicate that the obtained YSZ nanoarrays after sintering at 650°C possess a polycrystalline structure and a cubic crystal phase.
