Abstract
The ZnS(en)0.5–CdS heterojunction semiconductor with different CdS contents were synthesized in a mixture of solvents (water–ethylenediamine) at moderate temperature. The results indicate that the presence of ethylenediamine (en) in the heterojunction structure is associated with the ZnS contents and the optical and electronic properties of heterojunctions are modified by the presence of CdS semiconductor. This kind of the heterojunctions are formed by plates overlapped showing Moire patterns. The interaction between both hybrid ZnS(en)0.5 and CdS semiconductor improved the photocatalytic activity in the Cr(VI) reduction in acid media (pH 3.2).
