Abstract

Porous polymeric microspheres of 1‐vinyl‐2‐pyrrolidone–divinylbenzene were prepared using the suspension‐emulsion polymerization technique. In their synthesis, the mixture of toluene and n‐dodecane was used as a pore forming agent providing materials of different porosities. The obtained copolymers were used as sorbent for solid phase extraction. In order to study the sorption properties of these polymeric materials the breakthrough volumes of phenol were determined. Additionally, these materials were compared with commercially available Strata‐X.
