Abstract
Lead is a naturally occurring toxic metal found in the earth's crust . Its widespread use has resulted in extensive environmental contamination, human exposure and significant public health problems in many parts of the world . In this study we report the preparation of three esters impregnated with magnetic nanoparticles Fe3O4, esters prepared from 2,2-bis(hydroxyl methyl)propane-1,3-diol with 4-hydroxy benzoic acid (I), nicotinic acid (niacin) (II) and stearic acid (III). The synthesis absorbents (I@Fe3O4, II@Fe3O4 and III@Fe3O4) proved to be effective for the removal of lead ions from aqueous solution at near-neutral pH , the adsorption behavior was matching with Langmuir model for I@Fe3O4 and II@Fe3O4 and in keeping with Freundlich model for III@Fe3O4 with qmax values of 862.068 mg/g, 1149.425 mg/g and 261.096 mg/g respectivally . The adsorption of Pb(II) follows pseudo-first-order kinetics for three adsorbents.
