Abstract

In this paper, adjusting the content of conducting polymer polypyrrole (Ppy), a series of Ppy/Bi2MoO6 microsphere photocatalysts were prepared. The prepared samples were characterized by some advanced physicochemical methods. These results showed that the introduction of Ppy was beneficial to the increase of crystallinity and specific surface area of Bi2MoO6. In electrochemical tests, the Ppy/Bi2MoO6 microspheres photocatalyst showed the enhanced migration rate of photogenerated carriers and the improved utilization efficiency of photogenerated carriers in comparison with the pure Bi2MoO6. The Ppy/Bi2MoO6 microspheres photocatalyst exhibited an excellent photocatalytic performance in the degradation of high concentration of Rhodamine B (RhB), and also could efficiently remove the mixed dyes (RhB and methyl orange). Furthermore, the capture experiments reveal that both holes (h+) and superoxide radicals (·O2−) played an important role in the removal of dyes.
