Abstract

Novel heteroleptic tetraisopropoxoaluminato-yttrium(III) complexes [{Cl 2Y {Al(OPr i) 4} · 1.5Pr iOH} 2] ( I) and [{Y{Al(OPr i) 4} 2(μ-Cl)(Pr iOH)} 2] ( II), synthesized by the reaction of YCl 3 · 3Pr iOH with KAl(OPr i) 4 in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratios, gave on prolonged evacuation the unsolvated complexes [{Y{Al(OPr i) 4}(μ-Cl)cl} 2] ( Ia) and [{Y{Al(OPr i) 4} 2(μ-Cl)} 2] ( IIa), respectively. Derivatives Ia and IIa have been used as precursors for the synthesis of interesting hetero-(bi- and tri-)metallic isopropoxides of yttrium of the type [L 3− x Y{Al(OPr i) 4} x ][ x = 1 and 2; L = OPr i and Zr 2(OPr i) 9]. All the new derivatives have been characterized by elemental analyses, IR, multinuclear ( 1H, 13C, 27Al and 89Y) NMR spectral studies and ebullioscopic molecular weight measurements.
