Abstract

Abstract The preparation of DL -[1- 14 C ]-β-amino-n-butyric acid from [1-14C]vinylacetic acid, and the large scale preparation of D -(−)-β- amino -n- butyric acid from DL -β- amino -n- butyric acid by a microbiological method are described. A method for estimating the relative amounts of the D- and L-isomers of β-amino-n-butyric acid as their L-glutamyl derivatives is reported.
