Abstract

To fully utilize black liquor from pulping and decrease its contribution to pollution, lignin-based epoxy resin composite films were prepared from black liquor lignin. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy indicated the successful synthesis of lignin-based phenolic amine (LPAA). Using LPAA as a curing agent, the prepared epoxy resin films (LPAAF) presented good dispersion of the inorganic chemicals of black liquor and exhibited higher tensile strength of 30 MPa and thermal stability than that using the phenolic amine as a curing agent. Therefore, LPAAF prepared from black liquor lignin presents a novel utilization of black liquor.
