Abstract

The amphoteric dispersant, synthesized by methyl acrylic acid (MAA), sodium allyl sulfonate(SAS) and methacryl oxyethyl trim ethyl Ammonium Chloride (DMC), is used for the preparation of coal water slurry. The samples were characterized and analyzed by IR. spectrum, GPC and TGA-DSC. The ability of being slurry, rheological behavior and static stability of coal water slurry are investigated. It is founded that the performances of coal water slurry(CWS) are improved. The amphoteric dispersant has satisfying effect of playing down the viscosity and enhancing the static stability of coal water slurry. When the ratio of anionic and cationic monomer is 3:1, the coal water slurry has the best rheological behavior and the lowest slurry apparent viscosity. Thus it can be seen that the amphoteric dispersant has a good value. The best dosage of amphoteric dispersant to obtain CWS with best performance is 0.5wt%.
