Abstract
Silver (Ag) nanowires with diameters of around 3 nm were successfully synthesized by template method in the channels of MCM-41 nanoparticles. Silver nanowires were synthesized by reducing silver nitrate with N-N-dimethyl formamide (DMF) in the presence of nano-sized mesoporous MCM-41 silica and investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and UV–vis spectroscopic. TEM results revealed that nanowires are inside the mesoporous matrix channels. XRD pattern also showed presence of Ag.
