Abstract

Abstract A ferrocene containing thio-Schiff base, S-methyl-β-N-(ferrocenyl) ethylenedithiocarbazate (HSB), has been synthesized by the condensation of acetylferrocene with S-methyldithiocarbazate. Its rare earth metal complexes Ln(SB)3(Ln = lanthanide) have been obtained by the reaction of LnCl3 with the thio-Schiff base derivative in ethanol. The ligand and its complexes have been characterised on the basis of their elemental analyses, IR, UV and PMR spectral characteristics.
