Abstract

After a brief survey of the characteristics of the important antimony/manganese activated calcium halophosphates, a more detailed description is given of the dry and wet syntheses. The colour characteristics and the theoretical and attained efficiencies are discussed with reference to three halophosphates, the light blue, the daylight and the warm white. Maintenance of light output of fluorescent lamps, and the improvement of lamp colour by admixture with other phosphors, are also considered.
