Preparation and catalytic hydrogenation properties of some rhodium and ruthenium complexes with chiral tridentate phosphine ligands ( S, S)-PhP(CH 2CHMeCH 2PPh 2) 2 and ( S)-Ph 2PCH 2CH(PPh 2)CH 2CH 2PPh 2)

Abstract

Treatment of RhCl(ttp*) (ttp*=( S, S)-PhP(CH 2CHMeCH 2PPh 2) 2) with NaBH 4 produced Rh(BH 4)(ttp*). The reaction of RuCl 2(ttp*) with NaBH 4 produced RuH(BH 4)(ttp*). The complexes RhCl(ttp*), RuCl 2(ttp*), Rh(BH 4)(ttp*), and RuH(BH 4)(ttp*) were found to be catalytically active for the hydrogenation of α-acetamidocinnamic acid.
