Abstract

A laboratory bioreactor was developed for functionalizing immobilized cells of the mycelial fungusMucor miehei. The ability to use the cells to purify wastewaters from the oil-refining industry is demonstrated. With proper operation of the reactor, immobilized cells (1 g) can purify >100 l of wastewater containing 0.10-0.15% of lipid-like substances.
