Abstract

Numerous excellent characteristics of graphene endow it an irreplaceable role in modern science and technology. The controllable preparation and application exploration of high-quality graphene are the key to the industrialization of graphene. In the premise that no breakthrough can be made in the nondestructive transfer technique, the directly controllable growth of high-quality graphene on the surface of functional insulating substrate provides a new idea and direction for the industrialized application of graphene in the future. The direct growth of graphene on glass substrate can integrate the excellent characteristics of graphene and the wide applications of glass, which is of significant research value in both basic science and practical applications. The concept of “super graphene glass” was first proposed by Liu’s group of Peking University, and through years of efforts, a series of significant advances have been achieved in the preparation and application of graphene/glass. The technical challenge for the direct growth of graphene on glass substrate, the growth mechanism and basic physical properties of graphene on different glass substrates are reviewed, and the latest research advances in application of graphene/glass are summarized. Finally, the development directions of graphene/glass in the future are prospected.
