Abstract

For preoperative localization of lesions in the lower part of the breast, an inferior approach provides the shortest skin-to-lesion distance. This paper describes the successful inferior approach in 48 of 49 consecutive localizations. No special grid localization device is needed. This technique permits accurate localization of small foci of microcalcifications and other nonpalpable breast lesions.
