Abstract

Large cystic masses within the fetal abdomen are occasionally detected by prenatal sonography, and the majority represent urinary tract anomalies, bowel obstruction, intestinal duplication, or choledochal, mesenteric, urachal, or ovarian cysts.1,2 Congenital pancreatic cyst is a rare cause of abdominal mass in the fetus. Indeed, among the 15 cases that have been reported in infants under the age of 2 years, only 2 were detected prenatally.3 We report a case of pancreatic hamartoma appearing as a large multicystic abdominal mass in association with polyhydramnios at 27 weeks’ gestation. The prenatal sonographic findings, clinical course, subsequent management, and outcome in this condition are reviewed. CASE REPORT
