Abstract

The PREMO (Presentation Environment for Multimedia Objects) project is a multimedia project within the International Organisation for Standardization which will define a programming environment for the presentation of, construction of, and interaction with a variety of media. Based on experiences with previous computer graphics standards, PREMO will focus on an open environment which allows for an easy configuration, customization, and extension of standardized components which deal with single aspects of presentation, construction and interaction using many different media. PREMO is based on the object model of the Object Management Group (OMG) that facilitates portability of applications and interoperability of software and hardware components in a distributed heterogeneous environment.KeywordsMultimediastandardsobject orientedcomputer graphicsPREMO
