Abstract

A model is constructed for the initial (dimerization) step in the micelle formation in aqueous solutions of sodium n-dodecyl sulfate without assuming any specific shape and by treating all constituent atoms separately. Comparison with experiments leads to a value for the hydrophobic constant of 21 ± 1 cal/Å 2 interface destruction.
