Abstract

Background: Maternal mortality, children mortality, stunting, and other health problems are still high in theworld. One strategic to prevent this problem is to increase health knowledge in preparing for pregnancy tobrides and grooms candidate. The aim of the study was to analyze differences in knowledge and attitudes ofthe brides and grooms candidate related to reproductive health before and after being given an interventionin Grobogan Regency.Method: The quasi-experimental research with one group pre and posttest design was used to analized 31bridegrooms as subject in the area of Grobogan Regency. The bridegrooms were given an intervention inthe form of one-day pre-marriage course for 6-7 hours, wich is given by KUA officers (Office of ReligiousAffairs) and Health Service officers who have been trained. Knowledge and attitude were measured beforeand after a given intervention using a structured questionnaire and data gathered were analyzed usingWilcoxon Signed Rank Test.Result: The results showed there was an effect of pre-marriage course intervention on knowledge (p=0.001)but does not have a significant effect on the attitude of the bride and groom (p=0.209).Conclusion: One-day pre-marriage course can increase knowledge the brides and grooms candidate whilethe attitude doesn’t.
