Abstract
In June 1986 we conducted an investigation into premarital sex among young people in Langjun District, Yingcheng County, Hubei. Taking into account the secrecy and sensitivity of this problem and the mental frame of young people in the rural areas at present, we adopted an indirect survey approach. By dividing those investigated into three groups—unmarried youth, married young and middle-aged people, and old people (over 50) in the ratio of 1:1:0.5—we made a random sample survey of 250 persons.
