Abstract

Crystals of the periplasmic galactose-binding protein of Salmonella typhimurium have been subjected to X-ray analysis. The crystals grow as elongated rectangular prisms, with the symmetry of space group C2. Unit cell dimensions are a = 119·7 A ̊ , b = 37·2 A ̊ , c = 80·1 A ̊ , and β = 123·4 . There is one protein molecule of molecular weight 33,000 per asymmetric unit.
