Abstract
A novel coupled cavity structure with helix arranged coupling slots has been studied. The dispersion characteristic of this structure is compared with hughes type coupled cavity structure to figure out its characteristic of weak dispersion. An extended interaction oscillator based on this structure has been operated to verify the feasibility of this novel coupled cavity structure. 2.4kW output power has been achieved when the voltage is 30.5kV and the current is 0.5A. Further study is ongoing to combine the advantages of coupled cavity structure and helix structure.
