Abstract

Abstract To identify the influence of soil factors on sugarcane rootstock borer (RSB) infestation, 24 sugarcane fields from the 1991–92 cropping season were randomly selected in January 1993 in the greater Dinajpur district of Bangladesh. Percentage organic matter, total nitrogen and available sulphur were found to have a significant negative influence on RSB infestation whereas pH, available phosphorus and exchangeable potassium did not show any significant effects on this pest. Addition of organic matter, lime and sulphur may reduce the amount of infestation by RSB.
