Abstract

Spherical bodies resembling Weibull's protoplasts are formed when certain bacteria (B. megatheriumSalmonella gallinarum,B. mesentericus) are incubated with lysozyme or penicillin in the presence of 10% sucrose, as a stabilizer. The presence of mitotic figures in some of the protoplasts suggests that they are capable of development and regeneration.
