Abstract

Objectives: Small outflow vessels in below-knee bypass surgery imperatively require autologous veins for the construction of the distal bypass anastomoses. However, autologous veins are not always available in sufficient length and quality. In case of insufficient vein material below-knee bypass construction with a combination of glutaraldehyde denaturated ovine collagen prostheses (Omniflow II®) and available suitable vein segments may be considered as an alternative to the more commonly used synthetic prostheses.
