Abstract

Locality 14 lies on the eastern bank of the Great Wadi between bays V and VI about 1 mile from the present border of cultivation (Part I, Figure 1). The site, like other Predynastic localities in the vicinity, rests on Pleistocene alluvial silts and stands about 10 feet above the present floor of the Great Wadi. The area today is almost totally devoid of vegetation, and the rugged hills of Nubian sandstone which bound the site to the East heighten the effect of barrenness created by the natural aridity of the desert.
