Abstract

The chipped stone assemblage from the previously unpublished site of Ayia Varvara Asprokremnos demonstrates both similarities and differences in the proportions of various tool and core types from other Aceramic Neolithic assemblages in Cyprus. These differences suggest that our interpretations of the Aceramic Neolithic period in Cyprus need to be expanded in order to account for diversity exhibited by the chipped stone industry, which until recently has been largely ignored in the study of the early prehistory of the island.
