Abstract

SUMMARY in order to prepare for research into the improvement of Sydney's water supply catchment areas, several preliminary experiments have been initiated. Some of the results to date indicate that Eucalyptus saligna Sm., Eucalyptus punctata De., Acacia melanoxylon R.Br, and Toona Australis Harms, are suitable for planting in selected areas; nitrogen and phosphate fertilizers accelerate the growth of nearly all species in most areas; and advanced seedlings may be more economical than tubed seedlings in securing successful tree establishment and growth.
