Abstract

Sediment samples from a 528 m deep borehole located about 60 km north of Golmud on the northern side of Dabusan Lake have been used to determine the change in magnetic inclination with depth. Normal polarity Brunhes inclination values are present throughout the section but there are six departures from this value, five with negative inclinations and one shallow inclination. An attempt has been made to date the core using the magnetic inclination departures together with a limited number of 14C dates.
