Abstract

Human markup of latent fingerprint images is expensive in terms of time, effort, and expertise. The latest latent image tests (preliminary results at this stage) at the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) aim to determine when automated image-only searching is adequate, and when the additional effort of marking minutiae and extended features is appropriate.
