Abstract
The analysis of spilled fuels in natural waters by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometiy is shown. Analyses are done with the use of wall coated glass capillary columns. A new type comparison technique for fuels is employed that utilizes mass chromatographic profiling techniques to typify the fuels. Preliminary results indicate the technique to be a good technique for spill characterization and to be relatively free of sample weathering and aging problems, if the proper compound classes are chosen. The results of this study are preliminary in nature.
