Abstract

Dual system hybrid VTOL UAV is one type of UAV that can take-off and landing using their rotary-wing system and cruise with their fixed-wing system. In this type of UAV, there is two propulsion system, the first one is a propulsion system for vertical take-off and landing and the other is for forward flight. This type of UAV is selected because of their easiness of transition between rotary and fixed-wing mode. This paper provides the dual-system hybrid VTOL UAV preliminary design without horizontal tail configuration. The objective of the UAV is to deliver three blood bags or another payload with a mass of 1.5 kg within the 100 km range. This paper also provides the aerodynamics and energy usage analysis of the designed UAV. The aerodynamic analysis is conducted using XFLR5 v6.47 and ANSYS Fluent 2019 R3.
