Abstract

Summary In this study, geothermal potential of the western part of Gediz Graben is examined. MT data was recorded on 350 sites using 1000m lateral distance in between stations. 3D inversion applied to the MT data using ModEM software on parallel cluster. Inversion results show that the western part of the Gediz Graben is separated from the eastern part and could be a different geothermal source. Dense MT field grid designed by focusing to the deep conductivity anomalies after the preliminary interpretations of the 3D MT model. After MT recording for a dense field grid, 3D inversion applied to the all MT data and the final model is used for selecting the exploration borehole locations.
