Abstract

Today, prelaminates are mainly used to manufacture PVC contactless cards for use in access control, banking and ticketing applications. However, there is an emerging application which will soon reach mass market proportions: secure ID, and in particular government-issued identity documents. These applications often require higher quality substrates that guarantee enhanced security and longer life, such as those based on polycarbonate and polyester.
