Abstract

An injection of 10 IU pregnant mare's serum gaondotrophin (PMSG) on day 5 of pregnancy resulted in complete wastage of pregnancy on day 16 as the consequence of luteolysis. Concomitant treatment of clomiphene citrate of 0.3 mg/kg or reserpine of 0.5 mg/kg bw concurrently with PMSG consistently reversed the antifertility faculty of PMSG and maintained growth of fetuses, placentae and corpus luteum almost parallel to controls. The anti-fertility efficacy of PMSG in rats is discussed.
