Abstract
(Acta Obstet Gynecol Scand. 2017;96(9):1106–1111) There are limited data on pregnancy following liver transplant (LT). Immunosuppression is needed for the rest of a patient’s life after LT. Immunosuppressive drugs can include cyclosporine, tacrolimus, azathioprine, and mycophenolate mofetil; these can be problematic during pregnancy due to potential hypertensive and nephrotoxic effects. Pregnancy after LT is possible, but there is an increased risk of complications such as fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, and preeclampsia. This study reported on pregnancy outcomes in women in Finland who had undergone LT.
